Monien yhteisten seikkailujen jälkeen päätimme, että nyt on viimein aika tehdä siitä virallista. Emme voisi toivoa enempää kuin saada juhlia tätä päivää perheidemme ja ystäviemme kanssa.

The Day
Date: Saturday 31 July 2027
Venue: Juurikkasaari, Säynätsalo
A full schedule for the day will be added closer to the wedding, but you can expect chilled vibes and a relaxed celebration with good food, drinks, music and plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful Finnish lakeside surroundings. Rain or shine!
Freestyle your timings but here’s a suggested itinerary:
Friday 30 July – Travel day
Early flight, afternoon train to Jyväskylä, evening check-in at hotel.
Saturday 31 July – Wedding day
13.30 transport to venue, wedding 14.00 to midnight, transport back to hotel
Sunday 1 August – Brunch
Easy brunch at our house, afternoon and evening at leisure
Monday 2 August – Travel day
Morning train to Helsinki, afternoon flight home
Getting Here
Juurikkasaari is located in Säynätsalo, around 20 minutes from Jyväskylä and approximately 3½ hours by car from Helsinki. You would be welcome to make your own way to the venue from the hotel, but you don’t need to. You just need to get yourself to the hotel in Jyväskylä.
If you’re flying from abroad, the easiest route is usually to fly into Helsinki and continue by train or hire car to Jyväskylä. There are flights to Jyväskylä airport, but they are limited and arrive very late at night.
We’ll add more detailed travel information, including recommended flights, train services and taxi options, nearer the time. In the meantime, Daniel enjoys moonlighting as a travel agent, so feel free to contact him for some Lunn-Poly style service.
Accommodation
There are several hotels and apartments available in and around Jyväskylä.
If you’re travelling from outside the area and would like us to help arrange accommodation or recommend somewhere to stay, simply let us know on the RSVP form.
We’ll publish our recommended options here soon, and block book some rooms at our nominated hotel with a preferential rate. We will organise transport to collect you from this hotel and drop you back after in the evening.
Brunch the next day
If you’re travelling from abroad, you’ll likely be making a weekend of it. On Sunday 1 August, we’ll be hosting a brunch at our house. It will be a chance to spend more time together, and see our house and business, and what we’ve been working on for the last two years. Let us know if you fancy coming for brunch.
Gifts
We’d be over the moon if you can make it!
We know that many of you will be travelling a long way to celebrate with us, and we truly appreciate the time, effort and expense that comes with making the journey to Finland. Because of that: no gifts!
Having you there to share our day is more than enough, and we can’t wait to celebrate together.
Things to do if you stay longer
If you have the time and want to make the most of your trip to Finland, we would recommend arriving a few days early and spending them in Helsinki. We can give plenty of hints, tips and recommendations for an enjoyable stay. Then all you need is a leisurely train to Jyväskylä the night before the wedding day.
Similarly, if you have time after the wedding and want to enjoy a day or two in Finnish Lakeland, we can provide plenty of recommendations and maybe even accommodation and private sauna hire.
If you’re making a weekend of it, there is plenty to explore around Jyväskylä and Lake Päijänne. We’ll share some of our favourite places to visit, restaurants, walks, lakeside saunas and other recommendations before the wedding.
